These baths were not built by the arabs because arabs never got to conquer Girona, so the possiblity of ruling it and building the baths is ruled out.
Despite the presence of elements of Muslim origin, this is a Romanesque building from the 12th centruy, inspired by the Roman thermae or public baths. The frigidarium, or cold water room, is the most interesting, with its rustic ring vault and the dame resting on slender column. |
